Blue Feathers —
Sheet Music for Native American Flute
This melody is an original composition by Christopher Alan Mink, a music educator and composer located in Florida. He sent it to me in June 2015 and I we worked together to add finger diagrams to the staff notation. Christopher has generously released this under a Creative Commons Attribution license.
Although the sheet music might appear complex, the core melody is straightforward. Christopher uses specific flourishes to ornament the core melody,
but always staying within the minor pentatonic scale.
I particularly like this as a learning exercise for runs and flourishes — especially if the player is comfortable with Nakai tablature and/or finger diagrams.
